I do not have a formal agribusiness/horticulture education but am enjoying my entrepreneurial experiences within the sector for almost 10 years now. I have a personal preference and a special liking for Horticulture as I have spent quite a lot of time with Horticulture businesses.
While i am still learning in the sector I have never felt lost. If anything it has helped me not to have any sector bias and learn the sector dynamics with an open mind. Passion for the industry ofcourse has contributed significantly to my approach and experiences.
There are 3 dimensions to horticulture one being the horticulture science, second being the technology side (especially the emerging hardware and software technologies) and finally the business side of horticulture (value proposition, value chains and partnerships). The technology and the business elements should be your preferred areas to start and create a differentiation for yourself.
